Drugs, Alcohol and Smoking

Drugs and Alcohol

Drugs & AlcoholNational statistics show that fewer young people use drugs and alcohol than five years ago, the vast majority not seeing or feeling the need for any artificial stimulation.

What is of concern however is that the age of first use has dropped and some children are using drugs or alcohol at a much younger age which has a far greater impact on a child’s long and short term health.

However you choose to spend your life it is important that you know the facts that can help you make the right choices. The links on this site can give you the real deal on drugs and alcohol, knowing the facts can help you make informed choices and help you look after your mates as well as yourself.

Smoking

SmokingFewer and fewer young people are now smoking, and for a good reason!

Not Smoking can improve your skin, breath, sex life, plus make you more attractive to the opposite sex, and of course let you live longer.

Smoking costs lots of money – and if you smoked ten fags a day, you could have saved £80 every month; think of what you could get with the extra cash in your pocket!

The law has changed and you now have to be aged 18 years or over in order to buy any tobacco products, and will be asked for ID to prove your age.

Before you spark up, have a think about what it is you’re doing. Remember, that most young people don’t smoke.

If you do smoke already, there are plenty of reasons to give up, and there’s plenty of support available to you to help you quit. Portsmouth has its very own young persons service to help you when you are ready to quit, offering free nicotine replacement and support.

Time to quit?  Drop-ins:

Wednesday; Healthy Living centre, Paulsgrove, 1pm-3pm

Thursday; Go For It, Cosham,2.30pm-4.30pm
