Services for the LGBT Community

All of the sexual health services shown on this website are available to the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community but if you are LGBT or exploring your sexuality you may want to access some specialist information and support.

Below are some of the options for you to access information, advice and further support if you identify as LGBT or are exploring your sexuality.

For Young People

In the Portsmouth there is a project that you can get in touch with, which is specifically designed for young people who are exploring their sexuality or who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual  or transgender.

 Inscape

Inscape is a community health service for people of all sexualities and genders, whether they be heterosexual, homosexual, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. If you live in the Portsmouth area you can access free and confidential support, advice and information from Inscape. Inscape can offer sexual health information designed specifically for your needs, one to one support around a range of issues including coming out, sexual health and legal issues.

The service has outreach workers, a female project development worker, clinical nurse specialist HIV and Sexual Health (mental health), women’s mental health lead and counsellor. It also runs a number of support groups including Phoenix- the Portsmouth Transgender Support Group.

You can access free Hep B jabs, sexual health check ups and HIV testing at local sexual health clinics and if you need some support in accessing these services you can contact Inscape.

Sexual health clinics offer a free confidential service and will not pass any data about your sexuality or sexual health status to any other parties.
